Applications to join the waitlist closed on 28/03/24. Main applications closed on 20/02/24 and offers were sent out throughout that week. We'll continue to get in touch with those on the waitlist, even if you weren't given an interview in the first round, in the event of spaces becoming available.

About the event
The London Marathon Running Show is the point when all 48,000 participants of the TCS London Marathon collect their bib numbers! They also have the opportunity to listen to expert talks and advice, do some last-minute shopping, and get that "I'm running the 2024 TCS London Marathon!" selfie.

Your responsibilities will include verifying runner identification, scanning QR codes, and efficiently issuing bib numbers and timing chips. When is it? Wednesday 17 - Saturday 20 April 2024
What are the shift times? See below
Where is it? ExCeL, 1 Western Gateway, London E16 1XL (The London Marathon Running Show takes places on the north side of the ExCeL (Halls N1 - N8) so make sure you enter the ExCeL from the west end (closest to Custom House DLR station) for the easiest access
What will I be paid? £12.82 per hour, within 2 weeks of the event

* These times may differ slightly (around 15mins)  if its your first shift for this year, as there'll be additional time required to issue you with your uniform and train you - we'll send over more info closer to the time

Other information

Is there good public transport links? Definitely. The DLR stops just outside (use the Custom House station) as well as the Elizabeth line. There's also a good amount of bus stops nearby. The IFS Cloud Cable Car's northern terminal is a 7-minute walk to the ExCeL. More travel info available here.

Is there bike parking? Yes, ExCeL London has free to use cycle racks located at the west entrance taxi drop off point, underneath the DLR walkway. Showers and lockers are not available. Changing facilities are only available in toilets.

Is there car parking? Only paid parking is available, which equates to about £25 per day and cannot be reimbursed. For staff with a disabled badge, get in touch with is at hello@weareeventpeople.co.uk in advance.

Are meals provided? Meals are not provided. There's water refill points throughout the ExCeL so bring a refillable water bottle with you.

Is this role open to anyone? Yes, anyone can apply. 

Is uniform provided? Yes. Make sure you've let us know your uniform sizes at https://forms.office.com/e/DbyJZH0tW4. Your uniform will be distributed at the start of your first shift. A t-shirt will be provided - trousers and shoes will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis and only for staff working all 4 days. Please arrive in black sports / tracksuit trousers and trainers. Clothing should be unbranded or New Balance branded. Changing facilities are available in the toilets only. If you're returning for day 2, 3 or 4, please arrive in your uniform to make arrival efficient.

Do I need to bring anything with me? A water bottle is a good idea. It can also sometimes get cold so having a white long-sleeved top to wear under your uniform may be useful too.

Do I need to have specific experience to apply? No, any customer-facing experience would be great though.

Is there training that needs to be done beforehand? No, all training will be provided on your first shift.

Is accommodation provided? No, accommodation is not provided for this event.

Is travel reimbursed? No, travel is not able to be reimbursed for this event.
