About the event
The UK's third largest marathon, not to mention most picturesque, will return on Sunday 7 April 2024. The flat course makes it perfect for runners looking for a quicker race. It is also renowned for its roaring crowd support!


Job description
Join our vibrant team for the Brighton Marathon, where you'll play a crucial role in efficiently directing runners to the appropriate queues in the bag drop area at the start. This fast-paced position requires keen attention to detail and confidence in communicating to crowds effectively. Additionally, candidates will assist with de-rigging tasks post-event, contributing to the seamless execution of the event. Embrace the excitement of working on marathon day, ensuring a smooth and organised experience for participants as they prepare for their marathon journey.

When is it? Sunday 7 April 2024
What are the shift times? 6.30am - 12.30pm
Where is it? Preston Park, Brighton
What will I be paid? £12.82 per hour + £12.82 to help with your travel expenses, paid within 2 weeks of the event

Virtual interviews will commence w/c Monday 25 March 2024 and confirmations should be sent by Friday 29 March 2024.

 

Other information

Is there good public transport links? There is, but there'll be significant road closures around the start area, even at that time of morning.

Is there parking? Yes, but only on side-streets nearby. There's no staff parking and be aware there'll be significant road closures until late afternoon through much of the city centre so make sure you park on the right side of these closures so you can get home.

Are meals provided? No, please bring anything you need with you.

Is this role open to anyone? Yes, anyone can apply. Due to the location and timings of this event, we are looking for people who are local to Brighton only.

Is uniform provided? You'll be provided with an Event People hi-viz that will need to be returned at the end of your shift.

Do I need to bring anything with me? Just lots of energy, welcoming attitude and big smile!

Do I need to have specific experience to apply? Key experience is being able to be assertive but friendly.

Is there training that needs to be done beforehand? No, but there may be a virtual briefing a couple of days before to run you through the logistics of the day and a full briefing pack will be provided.

Is accommodation provided? No, accommodation is not provided for this event.

Is travel reimbursed? No, but we will add £12.82 towards your final pay to help with your travel costs.
