Other information
Is there good public transport links? Not really, no. The closest train stations are Uckfield, Crowborough, East Grinstead and Haywards Heath, but all would then mean a bus journey to the site and this may not be possible that early in the morning. We are exploring carpool options and these will be discussed in your interview. For both these reasons why we're going to prioritise people candidates who can drive and have their own vehicle.
Is there parking? Yes, free parking is available onsite. Closer to the time, we'll ask for your vehicle registration details so we can get a parking pass issued - these will be sent out in advance and will need to be displayed in your windscreen.
Are meals provided? A light breakfast will be provided from the volunteer/staff tent; lunch will be delivered to your deployment location; and hot drinks will be available at all times - either from the volunteer/staff tent or delivered to you.
Is this role open to anyone? Yes, anyone can apply. Due to the location and timings of this event, we are going to priorities people who are located nearby and/or can drive & have access to their own vehicle.
Is uniform provided? Yes, you'll be given a bright orange MVP (Most Valued Player) t-shirt and baseball cap and this must be worn as the outermost layer. You're recommended to wear sensible, comfortable shoes as you'll be on your feet all day. Open-toed shoes are not allowed. For warm/sunny weather, we recommend breathable, sports clothing and sunglasses. For colder weather, layer up with waterproof clothing, a warm hat and gloves.
Do I need to bring anything with me? Roles throughout the day will be varied and some roles will be course-based. For these, you're recommended to bring a camping chair if you'd like one, as one won't be provided. You can also bring along a wireless (waterproof!) speaker if you want to spruce up your time marshalling on the incredible course.
You should also bring extra snacks to keep you going through the day; a thermos or flask to fill-up at the volunteer/staff tent and keep with you; and food/refreshments if you have any dietary requirements (vegetarian and some vegan/gluten free options will be available)
Do I need to have specific experience to apply? No, any customer-facing experience would be great though - all we need is for you to be energetic (don't worry, you won't be taking part), adaptable and infectious smile.
Is there training that needs to be done beforehand? No, but there may be a virtual briefing a couple of days before to run you through the logistics of the day and a full briefing pack will be provided.
Is accommodation provided? No, accommodation is not provided for this event. Going forward to other Tough Mudder / Spartan events, there may be camping available.
Is travel reimbursed? You'll have £12.82 added to your final pay to cover travel expenses.
